One-on-One Consulting:

I'm available for one-on-one consulting regarding marketing, organizing blockbuster promotions, building an author platform, setting up and maintaining a successful newsletter list, and advertising. I charge $100 per hour. For more information or to arrange an appointment, please email me.

In rare instances, I will sit down with an author and either take over putting these things together or will show step by step how to do it. If this is what you need, my fee is $200 an hour. Please note I will need plenty of advance notice.

(Consulting is where I tell you what needs to be done, but you figure out how to do it - learning the ropes of your newsletter service on your own, etc. - if I take over the actual work, I charge $200 an hour.)

Ebook Formatting:

My fiction ebook formatting pricing is as follows:

Up to 25,000 words: $30
Up to 50,000: $45
Up to 80,000: $55
Up to 100,000: $65
Up to 150,000: $85
Up to 200,000: $100
Over 200,000: contact me

For non-fiction projects, email me. Please note that the above prices don't include chapter images or glyphs as section breaks. I can add chapter images and glyphs for section breaks as requested, for an additional fee of $1 per chapter. Please let me know in your email what you're looking for. (I will need you to supply the images.)

If you're interested, send me an email to discuss your project. Please let me know of any deadlines. After we've discussed deadlines and payment schedule, I'll need the following (as applicable):
  • Complete manuscript
  • Author bio
  • Acknowledgements
  • Dedication
  • A summary of the book
  • Copyright information (cover designer, your information, etc.)
  • Any links, along with where you want them in the eBook
  • Author picture
  • Genre of ebook
Put them in the same document in the order in which you want them to appear in the completed eBook.
After formatting your book (and testing to see that it works), I'll send you the finished product as both a .mobi file and an .epub file, which you'll then be able to upload to Smashwords, Kindle, Nook, Draft2Digital, Kobo, etc.

    Print Book Typesetting:

NOT ACCEPTING NEW CLIENTS - please check back later for any updates.

I absolutely love creating beautiful print books. There's something about the crisp, cleanness of the page that really appeals to me. Plus, I love InDesign. :-)

PLEASE NOTE: The below prices are for a standard novel/novella and not a graphic-heavy book. If your book has illustrations, please let me know and we can make necessary arrangements.

Here are my prices for a basic print book (without flourishes):

    Up to 15,000 words: $50
    Up to 30,000: $65
    Up to 45,000: $85
    Up to 60,000: $105
    Up to 80,000: $125
    Up to 100,000: $150
    Up to 125,000: $175
    Up to 150,000 words: $200
    Over 150,000 words: Contact me.

Without flourishes means I'll use the fonts from the cover, but won't match the title exactly as it is on the cover (see images below for examples of what I mean). I'll use *** for section breaks, etc.

For print books WITH flourishes (see images at the bottom of the page for examples), here are my prices:

    Up to 15,000 words: $60
    Up to 30,000: $90
    Up to 45,000: $120
    Up to 60,000: $150
    Up to 80,000: $180
    Up to 100,000: $200
    Up to 125,000: $225
    Up to 150,000: $250
    Over 150,000: Contact me.

Once we've agreed on a price and I know your deadline, I'll need the following from you:
    • Complete manuscript
    • Author bio
    • Acknowledgements
    • Dedication
    • Copyright information (cover designer, your information, etc.)
    • ISBN-10 and ISBN-13 (as applicable)
    • Author picture
    • Cover of the book
Depending on whether you want the print book WITH flourishes, I will also need all of the fonts used on the cover, along with a high-quality copy of the cover and a high-quality image of the title of the book (see example below). If you aren't able to supply one, I can create it. Add $50 to the cost of the book for this service.

Example images at the bottom of the page.

I'm only accepting new projects on a case-by-case basis. Preference will be given to current clients.

I believe every book needs a couple sets of eyeballs on it, besides the author's. I have a knack for finding logical errors that authors don't catch on their own, and I'm good at spotting inconsistencies in story line along with grammar errors. I've been proofreading and editing for several years now, but I haven't been formally trained (other than a few advanced-writing classes in college). As such, the best way to use me is after you've had your manuscript read by beta readers and before a professional editor or after a professional editor has done a pass through on the book. I'm also comfortable acting as the main editor for a book, as long as the author knows what I've relayed here.

I charge $1.25 per double-spaced page for proofreading a fairly clean manuscript and $2.00-$3.00 for heavier editing jobs. (To be determined once I see sample pages from the book.)

I use the track changes and comment features in Microsoft Word.

Please note: If I encounter a plethora of errors in a basic proofread, my fee will increase accordingly. (Up to $3.00 a page.) I won't, however, continue working without touching bases with you.

    Book Covers:
James Curwen, my former cover designer (I create my covers now), is partnering with me to offer covers to my clients. If you'd like to hire him without using my formatting services, click here. (It takes you to his blog. Please read through his section of Author Services before contacting him.)

He offers three types of covers:

Basic Cover: stock photos, stock font, no original artwork: $50 to $100, depending on the project
Custom + Basic Cover: mix and match of Custom and Basic: $100 to $300, depending on the project
Custom Cover: Original artwork, original font: $300 to $700 or higher, depending on the project

He is also able to create banners, icons, and other images. You can base them on your cover or on nearly any other theme you choose. To see the covers, banners, etc., that James has already created, check out his blog.
